Pocono Chamber of Commerce’s Pickle Me Poconos Festival Postponed Until 2021

Pocono Chamber of Commerce’s Pickle Me Poconos Festival Postponed Until 2021

July 1, 2020 | Monroe County, PA – Due to the risks associated with the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis and in accordance with the Center for Disease Control & Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines the Pocono Chamber of Commerce (PCC) has decided to postpone this year’s Pickle Me Poconos festival, initially scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2020.

Organizers of the festival, in its second year, said that the risks are too high to move forward with the festival this year.  Initially hosted in October 2019, the Pickle Me Poconos Festival has a home on Crystal Street in East Stroudsburg. The first year the festival saw thousands of visitors fill the streets and area businesses to celebrate all things pickled! The PCC’s Pocono Leaders of Tomorrow (PLOT) Committee is currently in the process of moving some of the initially planned activities to an interactive virtual format.

“The decision to cancel this year’s festival weighs heavy on the hearts of the Pocono Chamber staff and PLOT Committee members. The personal wellbeing and safety of our community and festival goers is our top priority and we are excited to come back with a bigger and better festival in 2021!” said Liz Blose, Event Planning & Logistics Coordinator for the Pocono Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s festival reached over 274,000 people the official 2020 Pickle Me Poconos Facebook event page. Last year’s Pickle Me Poconos Festival drew in over 3,000 attendees, garnered over 85,000 likes on social media, and highlighted all things pickles! The event was designed to bring a new and fun festival to East Stroudsburg and brought the community and tourists together during East Stroudsburg University’s Annual Family Weekend. The PLOT Committee will continue to coordinate the 2021 Festival in correspondence with ESU’s 2021 Family Weekend. A new date will be announced after ESU announces their 2021 Family Weekend.

Many vendors and sponsors have already signed up for the 2020 event and were excited to feature a variety of pickle dishes, crafts and activities to our region. The Pocono Chamber Staff is working with those who have already committed to coordinate ways to highlight their pickle products through a virtual platform!
